Because he didn't live up to unrealistic expectations. He was expected to turn the team with the worst record last season into a successful group this season with a couple of veteren aquisitions.

Meddling ownership, combined with unreal expectations; he was being heavily criticized for not playing Lecavalier or Stamkos enough. Although how can anyone expect an 18 year old in Steven Stamkos to be really good this early? They set that one up themselves by over-marketing this kid to the fanbase with their seenstamkos.com website last spring and other marketing ploys to put fans in the seats... a lot of pressure for a pretty young guy if you ask me...

They are saying that the recent losing streak was unacceptable. However, since the start of the season one could argue that this team has not been on the same page. I can't say I am surprised. The guy has been in a TV booth for the past ten years. What does he really have to offer?
