Depends on the state.
In Texas (at will employment) no. If you can't do the job, they have the right to find someone who can.

You don't have the RIGHT to have a job... They do have the right to fill their positions...

EDIT : I love some of these answers.
Some of you seem to think that a company has some legal obligation to keep someone on the payroll even if they can't do the job they were hired to do? Companies would lose money right and left...

They have to give you one day a week to have for religious practice it does not have to be Sunday though. This is a US law.

by law they cannot stop you from going to church.

but their is nothing in the law that says they have to keep you.
Sunday might be a important day and need someone their.

but it should not excude the whole day though.

UK there is no law for working Sundays, it would have been told on your original interview.

Depends. Did you take the job knowing that there were Sunday hours? It will also depend upon your state laws. However, there are cases similar to your and from what I can tell, most of the time the employer looses. Here's a link to a story that might be similar;

talk to a lawyer on that one. no one should be forced to work sundays, religion or not.

some lawyers have a free consultation, others might be a small amount, but ask first.

Your religion prohibits you from working all day Sunday? Somehow that sounds like a lame excuse to me.

Didn't you tell them that when they hired you?

(Or is it a sudden change in your lifestyle?)
