problem with my hours at work or as you could say lack of them?

well found this new job at a golf course a while back but seem to be running into some issues with my hours , more a lack of them . like today there is a big name PGA golfer visiting the course and there busy but i'm not even working today . and they say its cause of lack of work but i somehow doubt there being honest.
although i'm on the schedule for 3 other days this week but geting less then the other guys at my same level .

so what could i do about this and should i try and talk to someone at work about this ?

speak to the manager and ask if you can get more hours
ask if he cannot give some now, what about later
